Finding truth, identity, and faith in the quiet struggle of caregiving and marriage
There are days I wake up and wonder:
How did I get here?
I once had a strong sense of identity—professional, confident, capable. But after becoming a stay-at-home mom, especially while raising a child with special needs, life changed. Slowly, the noise of the world faded, and so did something inside me.
What no one tells you is that love, even when poured out fully, doesn’t always come back in the way you need. Marriage can become another place where you feel unseen. Caregiving can become a quiet place where your identity feels lost.
And yet, here I am.
Still showing up.
Still breathing.
Still believing that truth lives beyond exhaustion, and that the One who created me still holds me.
To the Woman Who Feels Forgotten
This post isn’t written from a place of strength. It’s written from surrender.
I’ve cried, doubted, and prayed through long silent seasons. There are days I’ve wanted to scream, but stayed silent to protect peace. There are moments I’ve felt crushed under responsibilities—mother, teacher, nurse, wife, therapist—all while feeling emotionally invisible.
But I’m learning this truth:
When we are out of strength, we’re ready to receive grace.
Let the One Who Created You be the One Who Defines You
One song that brings me back to this truth is **”The Truth” by Megan Woods. **“How many times can you hear the same lie before you start to believe it. ……The truth is I am truly loved by a God who’s good when I’m not good enough…”. In a world where it’s easy to be defined by titles, performance, or other people’s opinions, I am reminded that my true identity is secure in Christ. Not because I’m doing it all right.
Not because others finally see my worth.
But because He never stopped seeing me.
When You’re Too Tired to Be Strong
If you’re reading this and feel emotionally drained, spiritually empty, or wondering if you’ve lost yourself—you are not alone.
This isn’t a blog post to lift others with my strength.
It’s a quiet space to say:
You are seen. You are held. And your value is not erased by exhaustion. I’m still in the middle of this journey. Still asking God for healing. Still trying to find my voice and peace. But I trust that He is with me. And with you too.
A Simple Prayer
God, I’m weary in my soul, as I feel like I’m losing myself and fading from my own identity. Please help me remember who I am—not by what I do, but by who You are. Heal what I can’t name. Hold me when I can’t hold everything together. Remind me that even in my silence, You are near. Amen.
Final Thoughts
If you're walking through a similar season, I pray this gives you a quiet breath. A small moment of truth. A reminder that your life—hidden, weary, stretched—is still held in sacred hands.
We are not defined by how strong we look. We are defined by the God who made us, carries us, and sees us.
Lyrics excerpted from “Truth” by Megan Wood.
